Transcript:How to Use a Meat Flavor InjectorHi, I’m Roblé for About.com. Today I’m going to show you how to use a flavor injector. Basically, it is a huge syringe that you can use to inject flavor inside of meat. We are going to demonstrate how to use this on a pork loin. Here we go.
Ingredients for Flavor Injected Pork LoinHere are our ingredients.
- 1 pound pork tenderloin
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- kosher salt
- fresh cracked black pepper
Create the Flavor Mixture to InjectSo, here we have our warm melted butter. Take your Dijon, sugar and paprika add them into the butter. go ahead and add in one really healthy pinch of salt and a few turns from the pepper mill. So here we have our warm butter with all that we just added into it. Go ahead and makes this together very thoroughly with a spoon. This is why we want our butter to be warm. So everything will dissolve especially the sugar making it perfectly ready to go into the flavor injector.
Inject the Mixture into the MeatJust like this we are going to load up our flavor injector with all of this tasty butter. You are going to have a little bit of extra butter mixture left over. That is fine, we will use it later.
So here we have our pork loin and our injector. What you want to do is to randomly inject little shots of the butter in the pork loin. Start at one and and work your way to the other end making injections all along the way. I know it seems like a lot of butter that we are putting into this thing but a lot of it will spill out.
Season and Cook Pork LoinSo, we had injected that entire syringe into the tenderloin. Now we want to season it all around with salt and pepper. Now we are going to take all of this extra butter mixture and drizzle it all over the top of the pork loin. I’m just going to rub it right in. Here is our pork loin. I’m going to roast this in a 400° oven for about 12 minutes. You can cook this for as much or as little as you like. Just know that the USDA states that pork should be cooked to 160°.
Serve and Enjoy Juicy Pork LoinSo here is how the pork loin comes out. I’m going to cut right through the middle. And you can see right here that all of those goodies are right inside of the pork. That is flavor. This is going to be so tasty. You can slice this up and serve it with some mashed potatoes, veggies, rice or what ever you would like.
