Transcript:Top Container Plants in Shade

Hi, I'm Elaine Weslowski here at Michaels Nursery in Boynton Beach, FL, for About.com and we're going to talk about the top container plants for shade.

Plants for Shade Container Gardening

There are many container plants available for shade gardening. Choose the appropriate plant for your area. The first great one are Dracaenas: Janet Craig, Lemon Lime, Warneckii, Ulises are all great container plants for the shade. They are perfect for indoor plant material. They like to be in low light, they like to be dry, and they are easy to maintain.

The second are you palms. Kentia palms, Chamaedorea palms, or Rafus palms are perfect for your patio or for your interior. Keep in mind, keep the soil moist, don't over water them, and don't let their roots sit in water.

More Great Plants for Shade Container Gardening

Another great plant that I love for container gardening for the shade are the Philodenrons. What great color. They are easy to take care of. Remember they like to be on the dry side, don't over water, and again keep those roots out of the water. Another great plant that I love are Aglaonemas, a perfect container plant. They love to be dry. They love to be in low light, and they are very easy to maintain.
