Transcript:How to Choose a Watering Can
Hi, I'm Elaine Weslowski here at Michaels Nursery in Boynton Beach, FL, for About.com and we're going to talk about how to choose a watering can.
What to Look for in a Watering Can for Your Garden
The first thing you want to make sure is that your watering can is light. Remember, you are going to fill it up with water, it's going to be heavy. You also want to make sure it's not bulky, the lighter the better.
The watering can should be comfortable and easy to grip. You don't want a watering can so large that you can't water your plants with it. Choose a can that is appropriate for your watering needs. If you don't need a big can, don't buy it.
Make sure there are no rough edges, you don't want to get cut. Make sure your watering can is made out of quality material so it doesn't fall apart. Remember, if it costs a little bit more, it's going to last a little bit longer.
Choosing a Watering Can that Will Last
The watering can is probably one of the most important tools for container gardening. You're going to use it a lot. Make sure it stores very well over the winter and make sure it has a really good spout.
Choose a watering can where the perforated spout can be removed, that way you have two cans in one, one with a shower and one with a direct flow of water.
There are so many designs and colors out there, choose the one you just love. It's a very important tool and a good watering can could actually last you a lifetime.
