Transcript:Quick Tip: Getting to Know Your Roommate
Hi, my name is Justin Teitell and today we're going to talk about getting to know your roommate.
Contact Roommate Before Moving In
Meeting your roommate for the first time can be stressful. Most colleges will assign you a roommate before school starts. Try connecting on Facebook, e-mail or sending a text.
Discuss Preferences With Roommate
When you finally meet your roommate, there will be a lot going on as you both get settled into your room. It is very important to find time for you and your roommate to talk. Some of the things you can talk about are: does your roommate like going to bed early, getting up late? Do they like to study in the room? If so, set up some ground rules about when friends can visit.
It is important roommates be respectful of each other. These conversations can help start you off on the right foot, getting to know your new roommate.
I'm Justin Teitell, thanks for watching. For more information about college, please visit About.com.
