Transcript:How to Brew Tea in a Pot
Hi, I'm Elise Pupko for About.com, and here's how you brew tea in a teapot. I'm going to show you two different methods, one is with loose-leaf tea and the other is with teabags.
Basics for Brewing Tea in a Pot
First, you will need a teapot, hot water, and either a teabag or loose-leaf tea and a measuring spoon, depending on your method. First you want to boil your water to just boiling.
Brewing Tea With a Teabag
For making tea with a teabag, next take your teabag and place it in your teapot, leaving the string hanging out, then pour the hot water over the tea to fill your teapot. Then cover your teapot and let steep for 3-6 minutes, depending on the tea and your taste preference. When your tea has steeped the desired amount of time, remove your teabag and pour your tea.
Brewing Loose-leaf Tea
If using loose-leaf tea, you want approximately one teaspoon of tea per cup of tea. Add the tea to your teapot then pour hot water over the tea until you fill the teapot. Cover your teapot and let the tea steep for 3-6 minutes, depending on the type of tea and your taste preference. After letting your tea steep, make sure the loose tea has settled in the bottom of your teapot, and then pour your tea. And that's how you brew tea in a teapot.
