Transcript: Manhattan Cocktail Recipe

Hi, I'm Sam from Pete's Candy Store in New York City for About.com Food, and today I'm going to show you how to make a Manhattan.

Manhattan Ingredients

For the Manhattan you'll need:
  • 1 1/2 ounces of whiskey
  • 1/2 an ounce of sweet vermouth
  • a cherry
  • 2-3 dashes of bitters

Mix the Manhattan

First thing you're going to need is a cocktail glass. Fill it with ice, then fill it with water to cool the glass. In another glass, you're going to want to pour your whiskey. Add sweet vermouth, your bitters, and fill it with ice, then shake it or stir it. Empty the ice and the water, add a cherry, and that's a Manhattan.
