Transcript:LimoncelloHi. I’m Chef Roblé for About.com. Today we are going to learn how to make Limoncello. Here we go.
Limoncello IngredientsHere are our ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups of water
- 1 bottle of vodka 750 mL
- 10 lemons
- 2 1/2 cups of sugar
Peel and Zest LemonsThe first thing we want to do is just these lemons. This is where we are going to get all of the flavor for our Limoncello. Using a vegetable peeler, we are going to peel right across the lemon. That’s what you want. We are going to appeal all these lemons and get all this lemon zest. So we have all the lemon zest in a bowl.
Pour the Vodka, SetWe are going to pour all of the vodka directly over it. We’re going to cover this with plastic and let it sit at room temperature for four days. Keep it out of direct sunlight in a cool, dark place.
Add Boiling Sugar WaterSo here we have our sugar and our water which I have brought to a boil in the microwave. Pour the water directly over the sugar and whisk together, dissolving the sugar. We are going to take our water and sugar mixture and pour it directly over our lemon zest and vodka mixture.
Cover this with plastic and let it sit overnight.
Strain the Zest, Pour the LimoncelloSo now we want to take the plastic off. Now we want to strain the lemon zest out of the mixture. So here we go. Go ahead and pour your lemon zest in your now empty vodka bottle. Of course you are going to end up with more than you started with so find an empty bottle around the house and pour the extra Limoncello into that bottle. Put them in the fridge until they chill and then they are ready to serve.
