What Is a Hot Toddy? The Hot Toddy is usually known as a toasty winter beverage made from a distilled spirit, sweetener and water. It is believed to have originated in 18th century Scotland as a mixed drink to make Scotch more palatable to women.
But no matter the origin, a Hot Toddy hits the spot on a cold winter night.
Hot Toddy IngredientsThe ingredients you’ll need to make a traditional Hot Toddy are:
- 1 oz brandy, whiskey or rum
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1/4 lemon
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tea bag of your favorite tea
Prepare the Hot ToddyCoat the bottom of a mug with the honey.
Add the liquor.
Squeeze in the juice from the lemon.
Heat the cup of water and add the tea bag to make hot tea.
Pour the hot tea into the mug and stir.
If you’re not a tea drinker you can substitute coffee or simply add only the hot water.
