Transcript:How to Make 5 Margarita Variations

Hi, I’m Josh from Annie’s Cafe & Bar in Denver Colorado. I’m here for About.com to show you how to make 5 margarita variations.

Garnish the Margarita Glass Rim

Before we get started, I’m going to show you how to add a salt or sugar rime to garnish your glass. Turn the glass over. Dip the rim in lime juice. Now dip it in salt or sugar. You can use a margarita or pint glass for all of these recipes.

Classic Margarita Cocktail:

I’m going to start by showing you how to make a classic margarita. You will need: 1/2 oz triple sec, 1 1/2 oz tequila, 1/2 oz of lime juice, 3 oz of sour mix, a lime wedge for garnish, and salt or sugar to rim the glass. Begin by pouring 1/2 oz triple sec into an ice-filled shaker. Now pour in 1 1/2 oz of tequila. Add 1/2 oz of lime juice. Pour in 3 oz of sour mix. Shake this mixture very well. Strain into a margarita or pint glass, with a salt or sugar rim (this step is optional). Garnish with a lime and serve.

Italian Margarita Cocktail:

Next, I’m going to show you how to make an Italian margarita. You will need: 1 1/2 oz of tequila, 3/4 oz of amaretto, a dash of lime juice, 2 oz of sour mix,a dash of orange juice,a lime wedge for garnish, and salt or sugar to rim the glass. Pour 1 1/2 oz of tequila into a shaker filled with ice. Now add 3/4 oz of amaretto. Pour in a dash of lime juice. Add 2 oz of sour mix. Now add a dash of orange juice. Shake very well. Strain into a glass with a sugar rim. Garnish with a lime and serve.

Blue Margarita Cocktail:

Next, I’m going to show you how to make a blue margarita. You will need: 1 oz Blue Curacao, 1 oz tequila, a dash of lime juice, 3 oz pineapple juice, a lime wedge and a cherry for garnish, and salt or sugar to rim the glass. Get started by pouring 1 oz of Blue Curacao into a shaker filled with ice. Now add 1 oz of tequila. Pour in a dash of lime juice. Add 3 oz of pineapple juice. Shake very well. Strain into your glass. Add a lime wedge and a cherry for garnish. You are ready to serve.

Apple Margarita Cocktail:

Next, I'm going to show you how to make an apple margarita. You will need: 1 1/2 oz tequila, 1/2 oz of apple pucker, a dash of lime juice, a lime wedge for garnish, salt or sugar to rim the glass. Begin by adding 1 1/2 oz of tequila to your shaker filled with ice. Add half an ounce of apple pucker, pour in a dash of lime juice. Shake very well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and a cherry.

Pink Margarita Cocktail:

Finally, I am going to show you how to make a pink margarita. You will need: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz lime juice, 1 oz cranberry juice, and salt or sugar to rim the glass. Pour 2 oz tequila into a shaker filled with ice. Pour in 1 oz of triple sec. Now add 1 oz of lime juice. Pour in 1 oz cranberry juice. Shake well. Strain into your glass. Garnish with the lime wedge and serve.
