Transcript:5 Summer Cocktails
Hi, I'm Josh Finocchiaro from Annie's Cafe & Bar in Denver, Colorado. I'm here for About.com to show you how to make 5 Summer Cocktails.
Hawaiian Iced Tea
To get started, I'm going to show you how to make a Hawaiian Iced Tea. You'll need:
- 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz light rum
- 1/2 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz gin
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- 1 oz sour mix
- 1 oz of pineapple juice
- a lime wedge
- a cherry for garnish.
We are going to build this mixture into a Collins glass. Pour 1/2 oz of vodka into an ice-packed Collins glass. Now add 1/2 oz of light rum. Go ahead and pour in 1/2 oz of tequila. Add 1/2 oz of gin. Pour in 1/2 oz of triple sec. Add 1 oz of sour mix, and finally pour in an oz of pineapple juice. Add a straw. Stir. Garnish with a lime wedge and a cherry and you are ready to serve.
Margarita
This is a classic summer cocktail. You'll need:
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- a dash of lemon or lime juice
- 3 oz of sour mix
- a lime wedge for garnish
- salt or sugar to rim the glass
Pour the tequila into an ice-filled shaker. Add the triple sec. pour in the sour mix, add a dash of lime juice. Now cover and shake well. If you like, you can salt the rim of a chilled glass. Pour the mixture into the glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime and you are ready to serve.
Dark & Stormy
This drink is great for a stormy summer night. You'll need:
- 2 oz of rum
- 3 oz of ginger beer
- a lime wedge for garnish
To begin, add the 2 oz of rum into a highball glass filled with ice. Pour in the ginger beer. Now simply garnish with the lime and you are ready to serve.
Gin & Tonic
Now, I'm going to show you how to make a simple, refreshing, gin-based summer drink, a Gin & Tonic. You'll need:
- 2 oz gin
- 5 oz tonic water
- a lime wedge for garnish.
Start by pouring 2 oz gin into a highball glass filled with ice. Now go ahead and pour in 5 oz of tonic water. Add a straw and give it a stir. Add a lime wedge for garnish and you are ready to serve.
Tequila Sunrise
Finally, I'm going to show you how to make a citrusy, tequila-based summer drink, a Tequila Sunrise. To get started, you'll need: 4 oz orange juice, 2 oz tequila, 1/2 oz grenadine, an orange slice, and a maraschino cherry for garnish. Begin by pouring 2 oz of tequila into an ice-filled highball glass. Now go ahead and add 4 oz of orange juice. Pour 1/2 oz of grenadine along the edge of the glass, giving the drink a red glow like a sunrise. Simply garnish with the orange and cherry and serve.
