Transcript:How to Make Stir-Fried Baby Bok ChoyHi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making a stir-fried baby bok choy recipe from our Chinese Food site.
Ingredients for Stir-Fried Baby Bok ChoyFor this recipe, you will need:
- 4 bunches baby bok choy (basically, 1 bunch per person)
- 1-1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil for stir-frying
- 2 slices ginger
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp. salt, or more or less to taste
- 1/4 cup water
- a few drops of sesame oil
Instructions for Making Stir-Fried Baby Bok ChoyStart by washing the baby bok choy, and separating the stalks and the leaves. Cut the stalks diagonally into bite-sized pieces. Cut the leaves into bite-sized pieces.Heat a wok over medium high heat and add the oil. When the oil is hot, add the ginger, and stir fry briefly, about 30 seconds just until the ginger becomes aromatic. Add the bok choy stalks, and stir fry for a minute or so, and then add the levates, and stir fry another minute or so.Now add the soy sauce, sugar and salt. Stir fry everything together. And add the water. Cover the wok - and since my wok doesn't have a cover, I'm just using a large pot cover, which works fine - you just want to be able to steam the bok choy.Let the bok choy steam for about 2 minutes, then add a few drops of sesame oil. Stir that in. And serve the stir-fried bok choy immediately.
