Hi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making shrimp with lobster sauce.
Ingredients for Shrimp With Lobster Sauce Stir-Fry
For this recipe, you will need:
- 1 cup chicken stock or broth
- 2 Tbsp. sweet white wine, such as Glen Ellen White Zinfandel
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1-1/4 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 Tbsp. stir fry oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2-4 spring onions, chopped
- 3/4 lb. shrimp, peeled, deveined and butterflied
- 2 egg whites, bean with 2 Tbsp. water
Instructions for Making Shrimp With Lobster Sauce Stir-Fry
In a small bowl, combine the chicken stock, white wine, soy sauce and sugar, and whisk until smooth. Add the water to the cornstarch, and mix until the cornstarch is dissolved. Now heat a wok or large frying pan over medium high heat. Add the oil, and when it's hot, add the garlic and spring onions, and stir fry for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic. Add the shrimp and stir fry for about 2 minutes. Add the chicken broth mixture, and bring to a boil, letting the shrimp cook for 1 minute. Re-stir the cornstarch mixture, and add to the wok, and then immediately add the egg white mixture, slowly and gently stirring to break them up with a fork, just like this. You don't want to over-stir the egg whites. When the sauce thickens, the shrimp is ready. Serve the shrimp with lobster sauce over pork fried rice.
