Transcript:How to Make Chicken Lo MeinHi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making a chicken lo mein recipe from our Chinese food site.
Ingredients for Chicken Lo MeinFor this recipe, you will need:
- 3/4 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into thin strips
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1-1/2 tsp. cornstarch
- 8 oz. fresh egg noodles or Italian spaghetti
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
Instructions for Making Chicken Lo MeinPlace the chicken strips, soy sauce and cornstarch in a medium bowl, and stir to coat the chicken well. Let the chicken marinate for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to boil, and add the noodles. Cook, according to the package directions, then drain, and toss with the sesame oil.
Ingredients for Chicken Lo Mein SauceNow to make the sauce, you will need:
- 2 Tbsp. oyster sauce
- 2 tsp. dark soy sauce
- 4 Tbsp. beef broth
- 1 tsp. granulated sugar
Instructions for Making Chicken Lo Mein SauceAdd all of the sauce ingredients to a bowl, and whisk until smooth. Now set aside.
Additional Ingredients for Chicken Lo MeinFor the rest of the recipe, you will need:
- 4 Tbsp. oil for stir-frying
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 large carrot, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup chopped cabbage, such as Napa
