Hi, my name is Krystyna Rittichier and I'm here for About.com. Today, we're making vegetarian bean curd rolls, using a recipe from About.com's Chinese Food site. This vegetarian dish uses the same toasted seaweed that is used in sushi.Bean Curd Roll Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need:- 3 Sheets Dried Bean Curd
- 3 Sheets Yakinori
- 1 tbsp Light Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 3 cups Water
- Vegetable Oil for Frying
Cooking the Bean Curd Rolls
Preheat the water in your wok and add all the ingredients except the bean curd and toasted seaweed. When the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer. Fold the bean curd sheets into 4 squares. Boil the sheets in the water for one minute, and use chopsticks as necessary to keep the sheets separate and fully cooked. Drain out the water. Place the bean curd on a baking sheet, and refold the bean curd into a square shape. Top with a piece of seaweed, and roll the sheets up like a sleeping bag. Preheat oil in your wok over medium high heat. Fry the rolls until they are golden on each side, then place the rolls on a cutting board to cool. Slice the roll into 1-1/2 inch pieces. The bean curd rolls are now ready to serve. Thanks for watching! For more information, visit us online at About.com.
