Transcript:Summer Crafts for Kids: Marionette Puppet
Hi, I'm Katherine Lee for About.com and this is Nanette from Artscetera.com, and this, here, is Sydney. And today Nannette is gonna show us how to make some great summer crafts for kids. Nanette?
Making a Marionette Puppet with Kids
OK, All right. I thought it would be fun to make a marionette puppet that your child can dress and decorate as they like. The way we start is you go online, you find a template that you like, print it, cut it out and you're ready to go.
The first thing you're gonna do is figure out where to attach your arms and legs so you take your hole puncher like this, give it a snip. Once you've snipped, you're gonna take one of those little paper fasteners we all used to use in school. It'll go right through, and then we turn it over and like so. Ok so we're gonna attach arms and legs and thighs - just like that guy.
Decorating the Marionette Puppet
Once he's all together, then you can start decorating him how you like. You can draw him hair, you can maybe give him a little hat if you like a hat -- and parents you can pre cut these clothes and maybe ask your kids what they like and they'll help you make the decorations. Once we've got him set, we're going to put string and tape so it doesn't slide.
Right.
And…he'll be ready to go. He's ready to go. There he is. There he is. And Sidney, do you want to make him dance? Show everybody how he does? There you go.
Wonderful. Great job. Thank you so much for showing us this wonderful craft. Thank you Sidney for decorating and making him dance, and for more go to About.com.
