Hi, I'm Katherine Lee for About.com and this is Nanette from Artscetera.com and this, here, is Sidney and today Nanette is gonna show us a fun summer craft for kids. Nanette, what we're gonna make today?
Making a Paper Plate Mail Box for Kids
Ok we're gonna make a paper plate mail box for the post cars you're going to get all summer along from vacation.
Nice
You're gonna have paper plates and one cut in a half that's gonna make your slot. I like the idea of using a map because it's travel so you'll have an old map that you can cut up.
Brilliant.
Then take an old magazine and if you see some nice colors in there that's kind of vacationey. And then basically you're just gonna cut up your map, tear up your sheets, glue them down.
More on Making a Paper Plate Mail Box for Kids
Once we have all of our paper glued down for the inside-
Right-
You take your bottom and the kids can decorate it as ever they like. I use paper, you can use crayons or markers – and then you're going to attach it with a stapler.
Great-
And, I want to give everyone the clue to use two paper plates, because then it's not going to get all mushy. OK, so once you've stapled it down, then you're ready for it to receive mail – and to hang it like a little mailbox, you do two hole punches, get our string, and you're all set.
And, at the end it will look like this – Sidney, will you hold that for me? Show everybody what that would look like -- and then when you get your post cards, you will just put it in like that. It's perfect.
Thank you, Sidney, and thank you Nanette for showing us this wonderful craft. For more go to About.com.
