Transcript:How to Make a Fire Tornado
Hi, my name is Ben Roy with gosciencezone.com for about.com. Have you ever seen a tornado? Tornados are a tremendous amount of force. Well, today I'm going to show you how to make a fire tornado.
Materials to Create a Fire Tornado
Creating a fire tornado is a very simple and ridiculously fun project.
You will need:
- A small metal trash bin or mesh cylinder
- A lazy Susan, or a spinnable surface
- A small container to hold the lighter fluid that fits in the mesh cylinder
- Lighter fluid or alcohol
- A BBQ lighter
How to Make a Fire Tornado
Place your mesh cylinder on your spinnable surface. Place a fire resistant container or plate inside the mesh metal. Fill the container with lighter fluid. Ignite the fluid and spin the lazy Susan, or otherwise, spinnable surface.
The fire is being caught in a vortex that is formed when you spin the mesh cylinder.
