Transcript:5 Elements of Performing Cheers

Hi, my name is Stacey Shalkowski and I am a cheerleader and a coach here at Montclair State University. We're here at Just Cheer All Star Gym to perform a nice and simple cheer for you today. "LET'S GO HAWKS!"

Chant Words with a Cheer Voice

5 elements in performing a cheer would be words.

We like to use a nice deep voice when we're yelling. You don't want to use your throat, because then you're going to lose your voice and you're going to get an itchy throat, we want to use our diaphragm and nice down deep in our bellies, Okay? "LET'S GO HAWKS!"

Have a Cheer Stance

A nice deep lunge can get you to look in different directions and show some level changes. So I'm going to have the girls hit a nice lunge. And you can just do this, or you can hit a motion like a 'K'.

Use Motions and Jumps in Cheers

What I'm going to have right now is Montclair State University show you one of our cheers that we would perform.

"LET'S GO HAWKS!"...."LET'S GO HAWKS!" "H...A...W..K..S...." "LET'S GO HAWKS!"

That's how you perform a nice, basic cheer so you can get you crowd involved at games, or competitions.
