Transcript:5 Cheers about Competing

Hi, I'm Greg Gilbert, head coach at Seton Hall University. We're here at Central Jersey All Stars in Kenilworth, NJ. Today we're teaching you five cheers about competing.Just a couple tips before that about cheering in general.

Foundations of Cheers for Cheerleading

Tip number one, make sure you have good motion placement. You don't want to go out there looking a mess.

Tip number two, you want to make sure your voice is loud and that you bring it up and down. Have a little bit of inflection. If your monotone the crowds not going to want to follow you.

Number three is the pace. It is very, very important that it's not too fast because your going to be muffled especially with sounds bouncing off the walls.

And last but not least, is energy. No matter what your doing on the floor as a cheerleader you need to be energetic.

Cheers for Competing

It's very important in these cheers that your arms are tight and your coming in with your motions really quick because they are a little more complex. The first one is called SHU.

S H U Go Big Blue. S H U Go Big Blue. S H U good stop Go Big Blue.

The second cheer about competing we'll be teaching you today is called Go Fight Win. It's very important for the girls' arms to be very tight and their pace to be slow because the triple clap in between each motion is very difficult if the pace isn't correct. This is called Go Fight Win.

Go Fight Win. Go Fight Win. Go Fight Win. Go last time Fight Win. Go Fight Win.T

he third cheer we'll be teaching you about competing is called Let's Go SHU. And it's actually the cheer we're using this year in the 2012 USA Nationals.

Blue White Let's Go SHU. Blue White Let's Go SHU. Blue White.

The fourth cheer we'll be teaching you about competing today is called Fire it up. This is a great cheer to get you really pumped up before the big competition.

Go Big Blue. Fire it up Pirates. Go Big Blue. Fire it up Pirates. Go Big Blue.

The fifth cheer we're teaching about competition is called Fight.

F I G H T Fight Hall Fight. F I G H T Fight Hall Fight. F I G H T Fight Hall Fight.
