Hi I'm Nick Jaynes for About.com and this is how to choose a smartphone. I'll be using information found on About.com's cell phone guide site. When you decide to buy a smartphone, simply beyond choosing what phone you want to buy you have to consider the long-term cost associated with different phones.

Things to Consider When You Choose a Smartphone

First of all there is the purchase price of the phone. The iphone 4 16gb costs 199 dollars with a two-year contract with At&t and the 32 gb costs 299 dollars, again with a two year contract. If you do not wish to sign a contract at all the at&t phones will run you 599 dollars and 699 dollars respectively. With Verizon they run 649 dollars and 749 dollars respectively. A PDA is a mobile device that is used for personal information management. PDA or personal digital assistant first came into the market in 1986 and resembled a small computer. Today we refer to them as smartphones.

Features to Consider When You Choose a Smartphone

Lets talk about some of the features of a PDA. The most typical feature is a touch screen display. Most PDAs now come standard with a touch screen. This enables the user to send emails, text and surf the web with easy. PDAs for business use will have some kind of keyboard. Blackberry curve smartphones have long been among the favorite devices available. They offer the excellent email handling that blackberry phones are known for, but offered in a sleek curved device that is appealing for customers. And the blackberry curve 3g offers all of that plus 3g connectivity and an affordable price.

Software to Consider When You Choose a Smartphone

While most cell phones include some software, even the most basic models these days have address books or some sort of contact manager. For example a smartphone will enable you to do more. It may allow you to create and edit Microsoft documents or at least view the files. It may allow you to download aps as well. The iphone 4 is not without its problems, but it remains one of the best smart phones around. Thanks to it's gorgeous display, elegant design and incredible ease of use. And it's even better now that you have a choice of carriers. The most popular PDAs are made by blackberry, apple, and HTC. For years the debate between which PDA, the blackberry or ihpone, is suitable for business people across the world. Blackberry's typically come with a full keyboard, where the iphone just comes with a touch screen QWERTY keyboard. Both are great PDA smart phones so whichever you pick will more than likely suit your needs.
