Transcript: Get the Look: Audrey Hepburn

Hi! I'm Kate McCarthy with About.com, and today we're going to learn how to do the Audrey Hepburn-style look.

Get Audrey Hepburn Hair

Alright, so first we're going to start with just combing the hair. Audrey Hepburn's hairstyles in most of her films were a basic French Twist.

So what we're going to do is take a section from the crown of the head, and we're going to rat it. And we're going to start from the left side of the head and we're going to comb everything over, almost as if we're going to do a side ponytail. And then you're going to take some bobby pins, and you're just going to pin the hair to the side. And then you're going to take where your hand is on the hair, and you're going to twist it, and then bring it back. And you're going to take your anchors, and what you want to do is push it up into the hair, and then you're going to bring it down onto the scalp.

So once you're finished anchoring the hair in and getting the French Twist, we're going to leave this portion of hair down. And now we're going to the front, and we are going to rat some more. We're going to pin that down in the back, we're going to spray, we're going to take our curling iron and curl the piece that we left out.

You can leave it like this, or if you want to modernize it, you can take the back pieces that we just curled and rat them up a bit so it's more of a messy ponytail look in the back.

Audrey Hepburn Makeup

Now to complete the look I'm just going to take a little bit of taupe eye shadow and play it all over the lid, and then follow that with a darker brown eye shadow in the crease, and then we're going to grab some black eyeliner and line the top, and we're going to take some black mascara and line the top lashes on each. And now we're going to do just the tiniest bit of pink blush, and we're going to do a darker, kind of mauve-brown lip gloss.

Now all she needs are some long black gloves and a couple of items from Tiffany's and she's ready to go.
