#1, It makes a potentially uncomfortable meeting easier for both parties. Sometimes during performance reviews we have to talk about tough subjects, so when both parties are positive it makes things so much easier.
#2, It shows a desire to find common ground. When we’re positive we tend to be more open to the ideas of others.

#3, It supports a growing relationship between the supervisor and the employee, when they can be honest and open with each other about what’s going on. While not all reviews end with a smile, a positive attitude allows both parties to feel good about the exchange.
