Performance reviews can be frustrating or immensely helpful. And while there shouldn’t be any surprises in an annual review, here are three things you can do to avoid a bad review.
Tips for Avoiding a Bad Performance Review
#1, Know your objectives. Know those of your boss and the objectives of the department so you can make sure that your work is in line with those objectives.
#2, Even if not asked, complete a self-assessment so that you can have examples and stories of what you’ve learned and what you’ve accomplished during the performance period.
#3, Don’t get into an argument. If you disagree it’s okay to state it, but do not get into an argument during this performance review. Follow these tips and you’re likely to have a great performance review, and you can get back to doing the work you love.
