Hi, I'm Charles Collier for About.com and I'm here to talk about careers in health and wellness.
Types of Health and Wellness Careers
When you talk about allied health professions, you're talking about directly or indirectly dealing with patients. There are specialized areas in health. They are, for example, physician assistants, physical therapists, and dental hygienists. All allied health professions require specialized training—some two years, three or even four. Wellness careers are those that typically focus on the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of an individual. Examples of career options are dietitian, nutritionist, so on and so forth.
Requirements for Health and Wellness Careers
Much like the allied health professions, wellness requires specialized tracks or specialized educational training programs depending on interest. If you're unsure about what health and wellness career you're interested in, its important that you take advantage of all the broad subjects as an undergraduate especially at a liberal arts institution. No matter what your interest is in the health and wellness field, you're finding a rewarding experience.
And that's an overview of health and wellness careers. For more information, visit About.com.
