Transcript:Oreo TrufflesI'm cliff wildman with About.com Food. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a very simple, yet delicious dessert called the Oreo truffle.
Ore Truffle IngredientsFor this dessert we'll need one package of Oreo cookies, one package of cream cheese at room temperature, and about twelve ounces of dark chocolate.
Crush OreosFirst, we'll take away six of the Oreo cookies to use as a topping later. Next put the rest of the Oreos in a large Ziploc bag. This is the fun part - using a rolling pin we basically want to crush these Oreos into dust. It may take a while, be patient, but make sure you don't have any cookie chunks leftover. You can use a food processor if you'd like.
Add Cream CheeseThere's our Oreo dust, so now we'll just add the packet of cream cheese and we want to mush this around and mix this all up as well as you can. When its ready it will be very dark, like fudge.
Mold Mixture Into BallsI have a baking sheet with some wax paper, you can use a tablespoon or your hands, I've got a small ice cream scoop - you want to make small oreo dough balls. Once you have all the balls on the tray, place in the refrigerator for one hour to let the balls chill.
While those are in the refrigerator we're going to take the last Oreo cookies and place them in a small Ziploc bag, and pretty much repeat the process here again to make the topping.
Melt Chocolate in MicrowaveNext, we'll melt the chocolate by putting it in the microwave and heating it on high for about one minute. Pull it out, stir it up a bit and put it back in the microwave on high for about 20-30 seconds. If about two thirds of the chips are melted, it's done, just keep stirring until the chocolate is all melted together evenly.
Coat Oreo Balls In ChocolateSo these have chilled for an hour, I'm going to use two forks to take the Oreo balls and coat them thoroughly in the dark chocolate, then put some of the crushed Oreos on top to complete the truffle, now repeat with the rest of the Oreo balls.
Refrigerate 10 MinutesNow we'll put these in the refrigerator for ten minutes to let the chocolate set, and that's the recipe. These are incredibly delicious, people will be amazed when you tell them how easy it was to make, they're no bake, can you believe!
