Transcript:How to Make Saltine Toffee CandyHello, this is Coreen from Shakes Bakes and right now we're going to be making saltine toffee.
Ingredients and Supplies for Saltine Toffee CandyFirst thing we need for that is:
- a pack and a half of saltine crackers
- 2 cups of chocolate chips
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 stick of butter
- lightly greased baking sheet
- small sauce pan
Prepare the Saltine Toffee CandyWe're going to go into our oven and we're going to set that for 350 degrees. Next I'm going to put my butter in the sauce pan and I'm going to carry it over my stove top and melt it on a medium-high heat. So we're going to quickly put our crackers in one layer on each tray, and try to beat our butter just like this.
So I'm going to put this to the side, I am going to take my sugar, and I'm going to go over to my stove top. As you can see my butter is pretty much melted and I'm going to add my sugar. So as you can see our sugar mixture has come to a golden brown and I'm going to turn off my flame, and pour it in as even a layer I can over my crackers.
So you want to get as much coverage as possible, but if you don't fill in all your spots and you have bare pieces, it's not a big deal. It will spread in the oven.
Bake the Saltine Toffee CandySo at this point, pop it in the oven, 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Simultaneous to our crackers being in the oven, we're going to take our reserve crackers. I am going to break them in to our sauce pan. So when I have my crackers chopped, I will have put that to aside and grab my pan off the oven.
As you can see, I'm going to take my chocolate chips. I am going to sprinkle them on top. The objective is to get as even a coat of chocolate as possible. Let's grab our reserved crackers and sprinkle all over.
Now that our candy is all assembled, I'm going to take it over to my refrigerator so set up for 30 minutes. So our saltine toffee has been setting up in the fridge for 30 minutes, I'm going to go ahead and break it up just like this. Then I arrange it on my nice platter, sprinkle it with the rest of my saltine pieces, just like this.
