Hi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, I will share with you some tips for making no-bake cookies .

Instructions for Making No Bake Cookie Bars

No-bake cookies and bars are quick and easy to prepare, but there are a few tips you can follow that guarantee your cookies and bars will turn out right every time.

Helpful Tips for Making No Bake Cookie Bars

Make sure you read through the directions of the recipe at least once first before starting. It's also important to prep and measure all of your ingredients before you start the recipe. No-bake cookies often start with sugar syrups, and you don't want to have to stop and measure when you're dealing with hot syrups. A lot of no-bake cookies and bars require mixing a hot syrup or sauce with cereal, nuts, raisins or marshmallows. I find it's easiest to add the hot mixture to the dry cereal or nuts rather than the other way around. And work quickly - if the hot syrup cools, you won't be able to mix it well.

Additional Tips for Making No Bake Cookie Bars

If you're making a sugar syrup, make sure you rinse the spoon after stirring each time. If you don't, the sugar crystals on the spoon could make the whole mixture turn out grainy and ruin the cookies. No-bake cookies can be sticky. Use the back of a buttered spoon to flatten the cookie bars before they harden. Now just because these are no-bake cookie recipes doesn't mean they're necessarily for the kids to make themselves. Make sure you read through the recipe completely first. And make sure the kids know how to handle hot syrups and wait for the cookies to cool before forming or shaping them. Store no-bake cookies at room temperature.
