Transcript:How to Make a Quick Apple Tart

Hi Aubrey from About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make a minute apple tart using a recipe from busycooks.about.com.

 Apple Tart Ingredients: 
 

  • 2 tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 1/2 a cup apricot jam
  • 1/3 of a cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 a teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 a cup chopped of pistachios or walnuts

Cut and Prick Tart Pastry Dough

To begin, preheat your oven to 350. flour your work area and roll out the pastry. You'll cut it into 3" squares. Set these on a baking tray. I like to line mine with aluminum for easy clean up. Feel free try different shapes. Circles are fun, you can even use a water glass as a cookie cutter, simply flour the rim so the dough doesn't stick. Also, try using a star or any simple cookie cutters you have around. Prick the pastry with a fork to prevent it from bubbling up.

Top Tart with Apples and Filling

Coat each with a spoonful of apricot jam. Now, fan the apple slices over the jam. In small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon ( and ) mix well. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes, until the apple slices are tender and the pastry is golden brown. Sprinkle with the nuts. Serve while still warm.
