Transcript:Best Restaurants on Brooklyn Side of Brooklyn BridgeHi there, Blaine Pennington with About.com. Now Brooklyn has in recent years been dubbed the new "Manhattan." Brooklyn is known for its charm, history, art, and most importantly for having some of the best restaurants.
A great way to visit Brooklyn while checking out some breathtaking views is by heading across the historic Brooklyn bridge. Today I'm going to show you my favorite restaurants that are just a short walk from the bridge.
Grimaldi's Is a Good Pizzeria on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn BridgeThis coal brick oven pizzeria is about a 15-minute walk from the bridge and is known for having the best Pizza in Brooklyn. This spot has been a Brooklyn staple for years according to locals, celebrities like Frank Sinatra and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
People travel across the country to try Grimaldi's pizza, so don't be surprised if you have to wait in line. At prime dining times, it's usually about an hour or so wait. Although it's crowded, everyone (including me) says it's worth it. Their classic pepperoni pizza is my favorite.
Siggy's Good Food a Family-Friendly Restaurant Near the Brooklyn BridgeThis kid-friendly local organic restaurant is about a 15-minute walk from the bridge. It's filled with artwork by neighborhood artists, with a casual setting, playing upbeat jazz music. They also have a lovely outdoor café.
Their menu is filled with crowd pleasers: turkey burgers, macaroni and cheese, shakes, and my personal favorite, the grass-fed flank steak sandwich.
River Cafe Is an Elegant Restaurant Near the Brooklyn BridgeThis elegant gem is also a 15-minute walk from the bridge and in a timeless location. Inside, the view is incredible, with a wall filled with windows overlooking the East River. It is surrounded by stunning gardens, and in the warmer months has a beautiful terrace.
Although the views and décor are jaw dropping the food is equally impressive. Their menu consists of modern American cuisine at its highest level. My recommendations would be the wild rock lobster and the Colorado rack of lamb.
Noodle Pudding Is an Italian Restaurant Near the Brooklyn BridgeThe name of this Italian restaurant may be strange but the cuisine is unforgettable. Just a 10-minute walk from the bridge, it's inexpensive, kid-friendly, and you won't find a better $15 bottle of wine anywhere in the city.
The ambience is intimate, with rustic décor and low candlelit lighting giving this restaurant a romantic, sophisticated touch. The menu has all your favorite Italian classics like osso buco, puttanesca and lasagna. But I would definitely recommend the mussels in a spicy tomato sauce, and the delicious Tagliatelle Bolognese.
So there you have it, some of the best restaurants that Brooklyn has to offer. Happy dining everyone. And for more restaurant tips like these visit us on the web at About.com. Thanks for watching.
