Hi, I'm Krystyna Rittichier with About.com. Today we're going to talk about How to Knead Bread Dough.
How to Knead Bread Dough
Be prepared for a messy job! Start with a clean, floured surface and hands, place your dough on the surface and use the heel of our hands, pushing down and forward to flatten it. Fold the dough, turn in slightly, and knead it again by pushing in and forward on the dough.
Be sure to follow the directions and pay attention to the recipe description of the dough's end consistency.
Add Flour While Kneading
When kneading, some doughs should continue to have flour added to the surface to stiffen the loaf and some should stay wet. If you have a stand mixer with a dough hook you can use it to knead your bread dough.
