Transcript:Body Building Diets for Men

Hi! I'm Hank Uhlaender, a Natural Bodybuilding competitor and owner of Hanksfitness.com. We're here at Next Level Fitness in Houston and I'm here to talk to you about men's bodybuilding nutrition.

Bodybuilding Nutrition is Divided Into Two Categories

We divide bodybuilding nutrition into two segments; macronutrients and micronutrients. Your macronutrients are going to be your lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, simple carbs at the right time, and good fats. The micronutrients are going to be your vitamins, minerals, and enzymes which are found in the foods that we eat throughout the day, but we typically will supplement them with a vitamin pack to make sure that we don't have any gaps in the nutrition that we need.

Get the Right Proteins, Carbs and Fats in Your Bodybuilding Diet

Our lean proteins are going to consist mainly of whey proteins, egg whites, lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, turkey breast, and some fish. For our carbohydrate resources, our complex carbohydrate resources are typically going to be large flake oatmeal, also brown rice, and lots of vegetables; green leafy vegetables and red, green, gold bell peppers, onions, mushrooms that sort of thing. The good fats are going to typically be consisting of almonds, avocados, and some blended oils, flaxseed oils, Omege 3-6-9s. A lot of vitamin systems like the Whey Pack already have those included in them, but you'll need to add a little bit extra to keep you in anabolic state and to keep going muscles.

Hydration is Essential for Bodybuilders

Other component to this is going to be water intake. Most bodybuilders take liters of water a day, I'll take at a gallon, two gallon-and-a-half depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. And we do this to stay into what's called protein synthesis that keeps our muscles protected and keeps it growing. My muscles are about 72% water. So you want to make sure that you stay hydrated.

Supplement Bodybuilding Workouts With Proper Nutrients

The next thing I'd like talk about is supplementation. Before your cardio, it's important to take some type of fat burner, half a cup of coffee, or like a Neuro, before you get onto your cardio session just to wake your body up and just to have a better cardio session more impact in the session. Immediately following your cardio, you want to go ahead and put in some proteins, and some carbs like Shape or some Gatorade or maltodextrin and some whey protein. And that will tie you over until you have your first actual meal which is typically going to be oatmeal and egg whites with some avocados, or almonds.

And that was the basics of bodybuilding nutrition for men. Thanks for listening!
