Hi, this is Angela for About.com and today I'm going to show you some great card games for family game night. Getting the family together can be hard at times, so starting a family game night is a great family tradition. Here are some fun and easy card games the whole family can play and enjoy.

Go Fish Is a Great Card Game for Toddlers

First let's play Go Fish. Most any child that can keep a good grasp of cards can play Go Fish. If they can understand what they are holding in their hand and the concept of the game, they will do alright. Some will be eager to play regardless, if so, they will just need a little assistance. They will still want to win and do well, and they can work with a guide to help the do so. Though a great game for toddlers, the older children will most likely want to opt out for Go Fish and won't find it to be stimulating or much of a challenge.

Crazy Eights Is a Great Card Game for Young Kids

The next game is called Crazy Eights. This simple game is great for younger kids around 6 to 10 years old. It is a good starter for more complex games. If your older children find this to be boring as well, you can play Uno. Uno is basically an updated version of Crazy Eights but more exciting. It will keep all age ranges entertained and doesn't require anymore skill set than Crazy Eights.

Spoons Is a Great Card Game for Older Kids

If you're looking for a game that will keep older kids entertained, Spoons is perfect. Spoons is not a game to be played leisurely. No one can deny the fun in  playing this high speed game. It will keep you on your toes and then fighting to get your hands on the spoons. Only the quickest survive. Younger children won't find this much fun and hardly get their hands on a spoon as their elders will be faster and have quicker reflexes. It's recommended for at least 10 and up and it's best to divide into age groups to avoid unfair advantages.

Ratuki Is a Great Card Game for Teens

The next game is the Chinese game called Ratuki. This requires serious concentration and speed. You must be able to manage several decks on the table at once which can be a difficult task for young children. If you have a set of Ratuki card decks, that is a great choice for teens.

Egyptian War Is a Great Card Game for Older Players

The last card game is Egyptian War. The age recommendation varies on the aggressiveness of the game. Depending on the level of effort the game can last five minutes to five hours. The game is pretty much equally advantaged except for smacking cards to pick up the deck. The rest is up to luck but when it comes to smacking cards, the one with the quickest reflexes will win and this can lead to winning the game. This one is recommend for older players.

Family game nights can work wonders in a family. While enjoying the fun times and even settling scores with competition. It's never a bad night for a game night. Thanks for watching! To learn more, visit us on the web at About.com.
