Transcript:How to Find Hybrid Bike Size

Hi, I'm Bob Copeland with Bike Source in Denver, Colorado and BikeSourceOnline.com. Today I'd like to share with you how to find the right hybrid size. To do that, there's a couple of different things you can do.

Check With Your Vendor When You Try to Find the Right Hybrid Bike Size

First of all, check with your vendor. Whatever bike company you're looking for will have charts that will allow you to see how tall you are and what size bike you should probably be on.

After you've found a sizing chart that might help you get a little more acquainted with the right bike size, we're going to find out which hybrid is right for you. You're going to need a bike that has the right saddle height for you, a reach that's going to be comfortable, and also a stem height in the front that's going to not allow you to bend over too much. Hybrids are really all about comfort, so we want to really make sure you're having a good time on them.

Determine Your Saddle Height When You Find the Right Hybrid Bike

One of the easiest ways to find out which bike is going to give you a good saddle height is standing over the bike, just make sure you've got good clearance between your crotch and the top tube, and then check it out where that saddle is. You want to have that saddle right about the small of your back. When you've got the saddle there, that's a pretty good indicator for this type of bike that your bike is going to fit you well.

After you've got that saddle height set properly, it's all about the reach in the front. Some hybrids are going to offer you a little bit different reach. You might be sitting completely upright on a hybrid bike. If you're looking for comfort, these bikes are two thumbs up.

If you're not looking for comfort and you want a little bit more performance, there's definitely hybrids out there that offer that experience. So make sure you find the one that's good for you.
