Hi, I'm Jacob Taxis for About.com. In this video you will learn how to put on a fitted sheet.

Place Fitted Sheet Across Bed

First, after you clean a fitted sheet, try to take it out of the dryer as soon as possible to avoid excessive wrinkles. This way, when you put on the sheet, it will have a crisp, smooth appearance.

To begin, lay the sheet right-side-up on top of the mattress that you would like to cover. Start by placing each corner of the fitted sheet over the corresponding corner on the mattress.

Avoid sliding the sheet corners completely over the mattress corners right away. Rather, pull each sheet corner down over each mattress corner only slightly. This will even out the stress placed on the sheet so that the corners do not tear.

Pull Corners Down on Fitted Sheet

When the sheet is fitted across the entire mattress, move from corner to corner, gently pulling each sheet corner down over the mattress.

Make sure the elastic band stretches over the bottom of each corner on the mattress. This will keep the sheet taut and smooth.

Smooth Out Sheet

If the sides of the fitted sheet look wrinkled, simply tuck them in under the mattress. Run the palm of your hand over the top of the fitted sheet a few times. This will remove any air pockets or wrinkles.
