Transcript:What Is a Square Face Shape?
Hi! I'm Jenece Amella, make-up artist and owner of stylesbyjenece.com in Denver, Colorado. Today's topic is square face and we have got Katie here who has got the ultimate square face, absolutely beautiful!
How to Determine if You Have a Square Face Shape
Notice you would be able to tell what the square shaped face is by the length of the forehead, from the cheekbones, and down to the jaw-line. They're all very angular and very, very sharp features.
You'll notice too that this is the same length from hairline to chin as well as cheek to cheek, same as the round face. The only difference between the round face and the square face is that the square face is more angular, sharp edges on the jaw-line as well as more prominent cheekbone, and the forehead.
Use Makeup to Soften Edges of a Square Face Shape
So what we did with Katie is we&'re softening the edges of her face to create more of an elongated look to create that perfect oval shape. So what we've done is we have pushed her cheeks out just a little bit with a lighter blush, and as I'm going with a more natural pink color and then pushed it out right on her apples of her cheek.
We want to really, really highlight those cheekbones by using a light color, we lighten it up, giving in a really nice soft feminine look. I've also done a little lighter on the lips, still a darker pink but it's a light, a lighter shade. So it doesn't give too much attention to that jaw-line. It's really softened her face.
We did a little contouring in the nose area, just really, really plain down those features a little bit to make it a little bit more delicate.
Hair Styles Should Hug a Square Face Shape
Now, with Katie, I like the way that we have this nice part here on the side which allows her bang to kind of hang and sweep over to soften that side of her face, and her forehead, bringing the back part, long part in, bringing it so it sweeps down, and just really hugs her face.
She's got some long layers here that comes in and really softens up that jaw-line, making it a really, really soft shapely square face. There we have our soft square face. Thanks for watching this video on face shape basics.
