Transcript:What Is a Round Face Shape?
Hi! I'm Jenece Amella, make-up artist and owner of stylesbyjenece.com in Denver, Colorado. Today's topic is a round face, and here we have Lorena.Determine if You Have a Round Face Shape
Here is our round face. This is a classic, soft-featured look. You can basically tell if you've got a round face if it is equally long as it is wide. Now, Lorena does have this feature, but she can also pass for an oval face, but she's definitely got the round shape.Use Makeup to Contour Your Round Face Shape
So what we're going to do is contour to create even more of an oval look. The way we're going to do that is by using contouring with our blush brush. We're going to contour right underneath that cheekbone, feeding it right into the hairline, into the ear, and to create more shading on the side of the face to push that in and give the illusion of an elongated face.We do it up here on the forehead, down on the chin, same on the other side, the forehead, down. So again art applies here, the darker it is, the more it's pushed in, the lighter it is, the more it pushes out. So this gives her the illusion of a longer face, giving her more of that oval shape.
Hair Styles Should Soften Edges of a Round Face Shape
Then moving into her hair, same thing applies for moving her hair more to the side here, allowing that hair to come down and soften those edges and frame her face, coming in again, and pushing that face, and just a little bit more so it elongates it.She wanted to put some long layers, put a layer right where that cheekbone is to push that in a little bit, maybe even a longer layer right down at the chin. If she wanted to wear her hair back, she could easily do so, by bringing her hair back down a little bit more, and pulling it back.
We don't want any bangs because the bangs push the face down and smash it up. So, keeping that forehead open with just a little bit of hair framing it is all that you need to create a nice elongated shaped face on a round face. Thanks for watching this video on face shape basics.
