Transcript:What Is a Heart Face Shape?

Hi! I am Jenece Amella, Makeup Artist and Owner of stylesbyjenece.com in Denver, Colorado. Today's topic is the heart-shaped face. Here we have Miss. Lora to demonstrate what the heart-shaped face is.

How to Identify a Heart Face Shape

You will be able to tell by the width of the forehead compared to the width of the chin. So what we're going to do is show you. You can see right here it's wider up here than it is down here giving you that nice heart-shaped face.

How to Make a Heart Face Shape Look Oval

To give the illusion that you actually have an oval face with an heart-shaped face we're going to use contouring. Contouring with a darker shadow on the outer edges of her forehead here as well as here, bringing it down, and then using a lighter pop of color on her chin area here. You can use a little flat brush that I have here, doing a little lighter, shadow to push that up again with art. You're thinking pushing out with lighter color, contouring, and pushing in with darker colors. So for her cheeks we're also going to use a lighter color to push those out a little bit. So I'm going to use a nice pink natural color, going right on the apples of her cheek to kind of push those out a little bit. I'm going to brighten up her eyes a little bit too. Close your eyes. There we go! By using that technique, that actually pushes in where it should be darker naturally and leaving it lighter where it should be naturally. Then we're going to finished it off with a nice light lipgloss on the lips, bring just a little more attention down into that chin area so it will help complete the shape of her face and balancing it.

Parting Hair to Make a Heart Face Shape Look Oval

Then, we move into the hair. You can see we've got it already parted on this side in the way. It looks really nice here and falls really nice and soft along the edges where her forehead is bigger. To create the illusion and a nice perfect oval shape, we bring the bangs down onto the side, and down to frame right where that chin is. Now, if she wanted to get bangs, she easily could do that. She can cut them right along here making this the higher part, and then bringing it down with the longest part, would hit just right at the tip of her eyebrow. There we have a nicely shaped heart-shaped face almost a perfect oval-shaped.
