Transcript:See What Happens During Airbrush Tanning

Hi, I'm Natalie Cupid for Sundara Airbrush Tanning in New York City for About.com. And today were going to show you what airbrush tanning is all about. What Is Airbrush Tanning? Airbrush tanning is a quick and easy process on how to achieve a natural looking healthy glow or tan without any of the UVA, UVB damage.

Airbrush Tanning Consulatation

I'm gonna be you technician today, today were going to do a quick consultation about what you're looking for.
Do you have any allergies to DHA? Latex? Aloe vera? Nuts or fruit extracts?
And as far as color, what are you looking for today?
And, how would you describe your natural skin tone? And, that’s what I'm going to try to match with you for today.

Airbrush Tanning Aftercare

You can not shower for a full eight hours. Your first showers always a rinse - no soap or shampoo. You're going to see brown water for a little while. That's just cosmetic bronzer so it has to wash off. Once you see the water run clear you're going to come out. You always pat dry your skin and then you moisturize. The more you moisturize, the longer it'll last and the more even it'll fade, so that's really important.

For the next five to seven days, no exfoliation - so there's no rags, loofas, anything with beads in it, sea salt, scrubs, toners, astringents - especially when it comes to the face, because the face is always the first thing to fade.

Airbrush Tanning Face Aftercare

So, for the face you want to keep it pretty simple. Just light cleansers, foam cleansers, and a light moisturizer. When it comes to water temperature It's always going to be a luke warm to a cool if you can make it, no hot steaming waters. No saunas, steam baths, or hot showers.

And then when it comes to moisturizers keep it pretty simple, the more natural the better it is for your skin.
