Hi this is Tricia Mann with About.com and this is Tips for Buying Concealer. Need to cover dark under eye circles or a recent breakout? Did you know you might need 2 separate concealers for that? Here are tips to help you make the right choice.

Concealer Should Generally Be a Shade Lighter Than Your Foundation

When concealing dark under eye circles choose a shade one shade lighter than your foundation so that it blends perfectly and conceals your dark circle. See how that blends right into the skin.

Use a Green Base Concealer to Cover Redness

If you are covering a breakout or redness in the skin use a concealer with yellow or green undertone. As you can see, this concealer is more green and this concealer is more yellow. What that is going to do is counter-balance any redness to cover breakouts or redness in the skin. I am using this green concealer to cover this blemish.

Light Texture Concealer Covers Wrinkles Best

If you have wrinkling or creasing under your eyes use a light texture concealer, so that it does not settle into your fine lines and creases. I am using this light concealer, so that it does not settle into my fine lines and creases.

Use an Orange Base Concealer on Dark Skin Tones

If you have a darker skin tone or have very dark under eye circles, you need an orange based concealer to counter-balance the blue or black tones. First start with the orange concealer here to get that darkness right in the corner. Then, you can use concealer that matches your skin tone on your whole under eye area to blend the orange and cover the darkness.
