Transcript:Tips for Blow Drying a BobBob hairstyles are a cute and trendy haircut, but sometimes when you blow dry them you end up with a tangled mess. Hi, Abby Feldman here for About.com, and today I've got some tips for how to blow dry a bob haircut.
When it comes to blow drying, bad technique cannot only result in a bad look, but it can also damage your hair. Here are some tips to use before you even take out your blow dryer.
Tips for Before You Blow Dry a BobFirst, always wash and condition your hair before you blow dry it. My advice is to rinse it with cold water after conditioning. Cold water reduces frizz and increases shine. But, before you start blow drying, you want your hair to be dry.
Scrunch any excess water out of your hair with a towel, and while it's still damp, place a small amount of heat-protecting serum in your hands and run it liberally through your locks. All this preparation will make sure your hair looks great while keeping it healthy.
Use a Paddle Brush to Blow Dry a BobA good brush tip to take into consideration when blow-drying your bob is to use a paddle brush. This is because you don't want a lot of volume with a bob haircut, and a paddle brush will ensure your hair stays smooth, sleek and under control.
Make sure you use broad, even strokes in a downward motion. As you brush, move the blow dryer up and down. Do not focus it on one section of hair. Repeat this step until your hair is smooth and straight. If you have fine, colored, permed or naturally curly hair, you may want to use a diffuser when blow-drying your bob.
Tips for Finishing When You Blow Dry a BobHere's a tip if you want a curly look: flip the ends of your bob under with a twisting motion. Once the hair is smooth, blow it with a cool burst of air. This cool shot will set your bob and make it last longer.
Once you've styled your hair the way you want it, ensure that it stays in place by spritzing it with some hairspray and light shine-enhancing spray. Remember, don't spray too much. You still want your bob to bounce. And there you have it. We hope these tips will help you blow dry your bob while maintaining its shine, life and luster.
