Hi, I'm Kaytie Sproul here for About.com, and today I'm going to show you how to make an avocado face mask for dry skin.
Ingredients to Make an Avocado Face Mask
The natural oils in avocado, along with its potassium content, make it a great natural remedy for damaged or dry skin. So grab your avocado, some honey, and a mixing bowl and let's get started. To make this mask, you will need 1/2 an avocado and 1/4 cup of honey.
While the avocado oils nourish and help to heal your dry skin, the honey in this mask will work to reduce any swelling or inflammation the skin has. Using a fork, mash your avocado in a mixing bowl until it's creamy. Add your 1/4 cup of honey and thoroughly mix it into the mashed avocado.
Apply the Avocado Face Mask
Once the ingredients have been adequately combined, it's time to apply our mask. Before applying the mask, you'll want to wash your face to remove any makeup or debris. Next, apply an even layer of the mask to your face. If the layer is too thin or patchy, the mask will dry too quickly and may inhibit the essential ingredients from replenishing moisture to the skin. If it's too thick, you’ll end up with clumps of the mask falling from your face as it sets.
Once the mask is adequately applied, let it set for 10 minutes. When it's time, remove the mask with cool water and a wash cloth, and pat your skin dry.
Using natural ingredients in your skin care regimen is a great way to remedy the most common of issues. Dry skin affects a great majority of us, but with a few items from the kitchen and an extra 20 minutes of care, you can restore moisture to your skin and begin to recapture that youthful glow.
