Transcript:How to Get a Bleach Blonde Look

Hi, my name is Matt Lawrence with About.com and this is how to get bleach blonde look.

Mix the Lightener to Get a Bleach Blonde Look

Now, we are going to mix our lightener. You may need to mix multiple batches depending on the length of your hair. Look at the manufacturer's instructions on the brand of bleach that you use. Make sure to wear a cape to protect your skin and clothes from the chemicals that you are going to use. She already has a very light natural color.

Start Lightening Back of Hair to Get a Bleach Blonde Look

First you are going to section your hair into 4 quadrants. When doing an all over color your want to start in the back which is the darker part of your hair. This is the healthiest part of the hair and most resistant to the color, so start with it first. Make sure to wear gloves to protect your hands from the chemicals in the bleach.

Start by outlining your section. Then take half-inch sections and apply bleach from root to end. Any of these products can be found at your local beauty supply. You have the nape of your next done. You can see it starting to process now; you can start on the next section, which is above that section on the top of your head. Follow the same steps. You are going to outline all the way around.

Move to Front of Hair to Get a Bleach Blonde Look

Once you finished the back sections, you will start on the front. Make sure when you outline the section that you bring it away from your face, so that you are not getting anything on your skin. After you have applied your bleach you will let it process for 25 to 35 minutes depending on the level of lightness that you want.

Finish the Bleach Blonde Look By Toning

Now that we have all the bleach washed out of her hair, we are going to tone it to take out the brassy parts towards the ends. I am mixing one part color to one part processing liquid. Now that we have bleached and toned her hair, she has that gorgeous bleach blonde look.
