Transcript:How to Do an Edgy Shoulder-Length Cut
Hi I am Angela Keith a professional stylist from Houston, Texas, and here today for About.com I am going to show you how to do an edgy shoulder length cut.
Hair Styling Tools that You Will Need
To achieve this style I will need a blowdryer with a nozzle, working hairspray, a comb, a medium size round brush and some shears.
Cutting the Hair to Shoulder Length
I am going to start by parting the hair down the middle of the back of the hair make sure to hold the hair straight down for no elevations, to cut the sides hold the head straight up. I will start by sectioning out the top for the front and to cut a few long layers to help give volume.
Adding the Finishing Touches
I am going to blow dry the hair with my hand to get it 80% dry. My model already has some fringe cut, I am going to cut that a little shorter, and do some texturizing and point cut to chop up the layers a bit to make more movement and volume. I'm holding the hair straight out and point cutting will achieve a look of having more layers and movement. I am cutting the fringe or bangs a little shorter to make a statement instead of just having the hair blending in. I used a bit of working hairspray to help hold and give the hair more texture. That is how to get achieve an edgy shoulder length hair cut.
