Hey guys - Jonathon Stewart here for About.com with today's 90 second quick tip. Woof. Today it's all about getting rid of stanky bad breath in a hurry. Check it out!

Long Term Prevention of Bad Breath

Obviously, the best way to keep bad breath in check is to floss and brush after every meal. Be sure to also brush your entire tongue, all the way toward the back of your mouth, which is often the source of really smelly breath. But what do you do when you're miles from the safety of your own bathroom and absent the proper tools to halt your halitosis? Well, don't give up. Here are a few suggestions if you're out and about.

Food Remedies for Bad Breath

Chewing on a sprig of parsley or mint is a great all-natural way to freshen breath after a meal, and allowing a piece of chocolate to melt completely in your mouth can be helpful in ridding your breath of onion or garlic overtones. Gum and mints can also prove successful, so long as they are sugar-free - sugary gums and mints sometimes serve only to complicate your dragon breath.

Medical Conditions and Bad Breath

If none of these seem to help, or if you find that bad breath is an ongoing problem, it may be due to other issues like sinusitis or side effects from medications, and talking to your doctor about the right solution for you is your best bet at this point.

Bad Breath Mouth Wash

You might also try starting off your day by swishing a mixture of honey, cinnamon, and hot water, which is mildly antibacterial and has been rumored to keep breath fresh throughout the day.

Preventative Practices Against Bad Breath

Be sure to limit alcohol intake, avoid smoking, and drink tons of water, which stimulates saliva flow and helps to avoid dry mouth.

The Bad Breath Test

Apparently the best way to tell for sure if you've got a case of the ol' stink breath is not to blow into your fist, but to lick the back of your hand, and do a sniff test. Of course, it could be that you just need to wash your hands.
