Transcript: Use a Curling Iron and Flat Iron
Hi, I'm Tesa Peltz for the Mark Garrison Salon in New York City for About.com Style. Today I'm going to show you how to use a curling iron and a flat iron.Supplies Needed to Curl or Straighten Hair
You will need:- a comb
- a hair clip
- a curling iron
- a flat iron
Curl Hair With a Curling Iron
First, you comb the hair. We're going to take a section, place the hair that we're not going to be using, on top of the head with our clip.Take the hair, and just wrap it around the barrel of the curling iron, holding the ends and not going too close to the root.
Another way to use the curling iron is to take a 1/2-inch section and open the clamp. Putting the hair into the barrel, wrap the hair around until your ends are completely in the barrel.
Straighten Hair With a Flat Iron
Next, I'm going to show you how to remove curls from hair using a flat iron. Make a section using your clip. Place the hair you are not going to be straightening on top of the head.Taking your comb, smooth out the curl. Then, taking the flat iron with the comb, place it into the hair. With your flat iron, place it above the comb, and you're combing and flat ironing in the same movement.
Again, placing the hair that I'm not going to be flat ironing on top of the head, taking my curl, combing through it, placing my comb, and then following through it.
