Transcript:Best Celebrity Hairstyles for People With Round Faces

Celebrity hairstyles are a hot commodity. But, if you happen to have a round face—not that there is anything wrong with that--certain styles that look great on the red carpet might not be so flattering at home. How do you know which style is right for you?

Round Faces have Softer Features

A classic round face means the width and length of your face are roughly the same. People with round faces tend to have softer features and round cheeks. Good celeb, easy-on-the-eyes examples include Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Hudson, and Kate Bosworth.Whether your hair is long or short, there are certain elements to keep in mind when choosing a celebrity hair style that flatters a round face.

Long Wavy Hair Styles Balance Round Faces

While tight curls or extremely curly hair can end up accentuating roundness, waves are still very flattering, especially with longer hair. Jenna Ushkowitz and Mila Kunis have gorgeous examples of this type of style.

Styled Bangs Frame Round Faces

The next style element isn’t just for seven-year-old girls. Bangs are all grown-up now and work especially well with round faces. While side swept bangs are the best, blunt bangs can work well too--just as long as they brush the brow. Christina Ricci and Cheryl Burke show how each type of bang helps frame and flatter a round face.

Popular Celebrity Styles Include Short Hair Cuts with Soft Layers

While longer styles are generally a better choice for round faces, there are shorter styles that accentuate certain facial features.Be careful when choosing a short cut for a round face. These styles on Elise Neal and Katie Holmes frame the face without emphasizing roundness. Kirsten Dunst and Ginnifer Goodwin get away with their short cuts by using soft layers.

And, that’s the long and short of celebrity styles for round faces. Now, it’s time to go get yours done. But before you hit the salon, be sure to check out the latest in hair fashions at beauty.about.com. I'm Jonathon Stewart with About.com.
