Hi, this is Aubrey for About.com, and here are 10 tips and tricks to get silky, smooth legs.Prep Your Legs Before Shaving with a Razor
First, purchase a nice razor. One that has sharp edges and at least three blades. A razor with a pivot in it like this one helps to get a closer shave. Before shaving, you want to prep your legs. Wash your legs with soap and warm water to remove and dirt or oils you may have on your legs. Use a beaded scrub on your legs to exfoliate, open your pores, and remove dead skin cells. This ensures that your hair shaves easily. This also helps to avoid ingrown hairs.Apply Shaving Cream to Legs for a Smooth Shave
When applying shaving cream, make sure to cover all areas so you do not miss any hairs when you shave. If you want to go all natural, you can use olive oil to shave your legs. Another product you can use instead of shaving cream is conditioner.Fan around your legs so that you get goosebumps. This makes your hair stand up so that you get a closer shave. Do not push the razor down too hard on your legs. Set the razor on your leg and gently add a little pressure. When shaving start from the ankle, and go up in the opposite direction of the hair. This gives you a really close cut.
Clean the Razor Well and Replace Regularly for Smooth Legs
Wash the razor after every two stokes. Let the water run over the blades until all the shaving cream is rinsed off. If you are using a disposable razor, you need to dispose of it after every use. If you are using a razor with a replaceable blade, you need to replace your blade every two weeks. Apply a moisturizing lotion all over your legs so your legs will not be irritated or dry. This makes your legs silky and smooth all day. Thanks for watching. For more information, visit us on the web at About.com.
