Transcript:How to Install Coil Ends on Jewelry Cord

Hi, I'm Esther Esses. Vice President of the bead society of greater New York. I'm here for about.com and I'm going to show you how to attach a cild end to a cord.

Instructions for Installing Coil Ends on Jewelry Cord

As with all findings, it should match the color of the clasp. If you have a gold clasp use gold coil ends or gold crimp breads. If it's silver, you use silver. You can attach these coil ends to cord or leather or any other similar type of cord. You can get the cord either by the yard or by the spool. Any which way that works for you. And I'm going to cut a piece.

Secure a Coil End

In order to make sure that it is secure in the coil end, I will put a little touch of E 6000 which is an adhesive on the tip. Not a lot, just a little bit. I make sure I close it first. I then take the tip that has the glue and put it into the coil end as far as it will go. I then take the pliers, bring it all the way down to the coil end and give it a good squeeze. You would then of course attach a jump ring and a clasp to finish t off, and repeat the same thing at the other end of the cord.
