Hi, I'm Melissa Shippee, owner of MGS Designs. I'm here today with About.com to show you how to do vertical beaded netting.

Tools to Do Vertical Beaded Netting

To do this, you'll need seed beads, a beading needle, beading thread, and some kind of surface to work off of.

Pick Up a Repeated Pattern of Seed Beads

You'll pick up enough beads to start the first row.  If you're using two sizes of seed beads, you'll often pick up a repeated pattern of one type of bead, then the other.

Add Anchor Bead for the Next Row

Push the beads down towards your surface. Add an anchor bead, or anchor beads, then stitch back through the last bead added.  To add the next row, pick up a matching group of beads, then stitch back through one of the beads in the previous row.

Pick up a repeated pattern of a number of size 15/0 seed beads, then one size 11/0 seed bead. Repeat this pattern as many times as you need to get the length of the vertical netting that you want. Your vertical beaded netting could be short as in this example, or it could be much longer depending on the number of pattern repeats of your beads that you pick up in each row.

And that's how you do vertical beaded netting. Thank you for watching. To learn more, please visit About.com.
