Hi, I am William with About.com, and today I am going show you how to make smoked brisket with a chipotle rub. This smoked chipotle brisket is easy to make and is delicious. The smoky flavor of the chipotle rub adds a zesty taste to your smoked brisket.
Ingredients for Smoked Brisket With a Chipotle Rub
To make this recipe you will need 1 beef brisket. For the rub you will need:
- 3 tablespoons chipotle seasoning
- 3 tablespoons black pepper
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried cilantro leaves
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground dry orange peel
- You will also need a smoker to cook the meat
Prep the Meat for Smoked Brisket With a Chipotle Rub
First, preheat the smoker and add wood chips. Prepare meat by cleaning. Then dry it. Place the rub ingredients into a bowl and stir until all ingredients are mixed well. Next, score the brisket. Then, brush the surface of the meat with oil. This will help the rub stick better. Now apply the rub on the brisket. You can store and refrigerate the brisket before cooking to enhance the flavors.
Smoke the Brisket With a Chipotle Rub
Place the brisket in the smoker, and set temperature to 200 degrees. Smoke with fat sides up so the flavor flows down through the meat. Cook for 8-10 hours. Let the brisket sit for two hours before slicing.
